Bus Home

Bus Home is a bus station in Ventura, California. Dennis Oppenheim, one of many architects and artists who worked on the project said this of the station:

"The work depicts the metamorphosis of a bus becoming a house. This frozen animation of one image into another takes the form of a looping corkscrew entering the ground and coming up again. It slowly transforms from a bus to a house... For the tired and often alienated traveler the experience of waiting wished to be intervened by the realization that the transaction will be complete. The passengers will arrive at their destination. They will arrive home."
I'm so impressed with the concept and artistic consideration put into something as simple as a bus stop. I simply love it! Has anyone else seen anything like this before?

World's Most Creative Buildings

I love lists, I don't know how many times I've said that here. It doesn't matter the type, from best-of to the to-do list, I love them all. Some of my favorite blogs lately have been of that format. Oddee has compiled a list of the World's Most Creative Buildings and I couldn't get enough. Visit their site to see all 9.

As for the spoiler pictures above: the first is the Longaberger Basket Building in Ohio, it serves as the headquarters and home offices of Longaberger Baskets (as if you couldn't have guessed). The second is the Dancing House in the Czech Republic, which I'm quite excited to see in person while living in Prague this summer.

For more amazing architecture check out a few of my previous posts:

The Church of Santa Monica: Madrid, Spain

The Church of Santa Monica in Madrid, Spain is architecturally incredible. I'm not sure how I feel about the design for a church, but in generally it's impressive. Gold star for Vicens & Ramos Architects.

Propeller Island Hotel

Propeller Island City Lodge is more like an inhabitable art exhibit than a hotel. Located in Berlin, the hotel consists of 30 rooms individually designed by German artist Lars Stroschen. Each room is entirely unique from the next.
"Unique is meant literally, for the entirety of all furnishings and other objects you will discover here are custom-made, individual handiwork. None can be found anywhere else on this planet."
The hotel has rooms offering guests the ability to sleep in a suspended bed, a coffin, and even a prison cell. It truly has a something for everyone appeal.
"The rooms are designed and constructed without compromise, varying from the tame to the extreme, and are well able to more or less alter your perspective of reality - according to your taste and sense of adventure."
I can't even imagine a night in this hotel, but it's an experience I'd be willing take. Which room would you choose? Learn more and see pictures of all the rooms as Propeller Island Hotel and City Lodge.

Most Dramatic Chapel: Air Force Academy

Deputydog has dubbed the chapel at the Air Force Academy in Colorado as "the most dramatic chapel on earth. Their pictures make it hard to protest.

"It looks like no place of worship you’ve ever seen and from the outside resembles a row of 17 angular spacecraft sitting on their back-ends, ready to shoot off at any minute. the chapel and its surrounding complex was designed by walter netsch of architectural firm skidmore, owings & merrill and construction was completed in 1963."
It's truly amazing. To see more pictures and a video visit Deputydog.

German Gutter

A house in Dresden, Germany makes use of a pretty unique exterior drainage system. Does the board game Mousetrap come to mind for anyone else?
