Admittedly, I hadn't heard of Ortigia before I saw this fabulous illustrated map of the Sicilian island by Studio Formagramma.
"Being the ancient cradle of the Greek civilization, Siracusa has always lived in an extraordinary fusion between myth and reality. Since the publication of “Antiche Siracuse” by Vincenzo Mirabella, the town, and particularly the Ortigia island, has become the ideal subject for an imaginative and creative representation which melt together reality and imagination."
The artwork is as imaginative as the island itself sounds.
