ARMCHAIR TRAVEL: TOKYO TAXI BY ALEXANDER JAMES

The Tokyo I remember being most excited to see was the one at night. Little epitomizes the city more than neon lights and vibrant colors. In his book Tokyo Taxi, photographer Alexander James captures another unique aspect of Tokyo after dark, the city's unique Taxi signs.
Hundreds of taxi firms operate in the city, and each has its own distinctive illuminated sign. Stars, globes, lanterns, cherry blossoms and even frogs and waving cats all feature in an array of vibrant colors.
Along with a library of images, James also relays anecdotes of some of the taxi drivers he encountered while shooting the book.
