Last week's Armchair Travel featured one artist's attempt to draw all the buildings in New York. This week I bring another artist's impressive illustrative feat in two books, New York, Line By Line: From Broadway to the Battery (Universe, 2009) and Paris, Line By Line (Universe, 2013). German illustrator Robinson, born Werner Kruse, is the artist behind the books. His detailed sketches of the cities are done in his signature style, "the self-described 'X-ray view,' in which he depicts important buildings simultaneously from within and without (instead of showing exactly what was already visible in photographs)."
