NOTES FROM THE ROAD: INDIA

Hello from India! A week into my time here and my head is spinning. Kolkata, my first stop, is a city of stark contrasts. The vintage taxis that clog the streets are charming. Victoria Memorial (pictured above) is absolutely stunning. Yet the grit, grim and general poverty of the city is nothing short of affronting. With Kolkata behind me, I find myself in enchanting Darjeeling. There is beauty around every corner and down every alley in this hillside city. I've spent the past few days trekking to Buddhist monasteries, drinking copious amounts of tea and taking in the charm that is Darjeeling. It's off to Varanasi for me. Hope life is well in your neck of the world.
