Blind Photography

I am completely and utterly intrigued by the California Museum of Photography's current exhibition, Sight Unseen. Showcasing the work of twelve highly regarded blind photographers, Sight Unseen is one of the most inspiring exhibits I've read about. "It is the first major museum exhibition on a rich subject full of paradox and revelation." Their website features a gallery of images from the exhibit, which runs through August 29th. You can also read more about it on NPR.

Destination Design: Textiles by Leah Evans

Leah Evans' textile work is an incredible uses of topography in design. Her geography-inspired work "combines aerial photography, maps, and satellite imagery." She has produced some of the most stunning "maps" I've ever seen.

Headboard Art

My bed has been without a headboard for years and I'm ready for one. The Style Files have posted many great headboards in the past, including this fabulous one. It's a work of art more than anything else. I love it.

LIFE Photo Gallery: Picasso Drawing With Light

Nearly all the images in the LIFE photo gallery are stunning. Recently, they featured a series by photographer Gjon Mili from 1949 in which Picasso draws with light for the camera. Fabulous!

Prêt à Voyager: Boarding Pass

Over at Prêt à Voyager, Anne's weekly column Boarding Pass combines two of my favorite things: design and travel. Each week she interviews a designer about the intricacies of how they travel. The segment is jam-packed with inspiring tidbits of information and images. It's my weekly source of vicarious wanderlust.

Book Table Clock

A clock after my own heart. The Present Time Book Table Clock in Color Paper, besides having a ridiculously long product name, is a fabulous idea for anyone with a love of books or a home library. The design is impressively simple and the colors are fun. What else could a bibliophile in need of the time ask for?

Gangsta Lean: Matt Braun

Very little gets me more excited than when good design meets complete practicality. Such is the case with Matt Braun's Gangsta Lean shelf. "A product that comes from many years of observation in the world of record collecting. One of the main problems with shelving large quantities of records is that they lean and the heavy weight causes some to warp over time." The shelving unit is designed with a slant allowing records to lean naturally and prevent damage. The best part about? It looks spectacular! I'm in lust.

Partly Cloudy

Brian and I caught Pixar's Up in 3D a few weeks ago. Needless to say it was phenomenal! One of my favorite bits, however, was actually the short film Partly Cloudy that showed before the film. It's cuter than words. If you've yet to see it, you can catch it on Fubiz.

Bullet Buddies: Rachel Pfeffer

Continuing with yesterday's trend of spotlighting artists using recycled mediums in their work, Rachel Pfeffer clued me into how she is doing just that. With Bullet Buddies, she creates key chains and necklaces from empty shells. Each one has its own personality and is different from the next. My favorite, pictured about, is Tilly the Tourist.

This fun little ring by Ana Cardim is perfect for jotting down short notes. It definitely allows you to leave more detailed reminders than merely tying string around your finger.

Dear God: Humbug

These need little introduction. It's like Dear Abby meets prayer. A collection of notes to God from children.

Think Campaign: School of Visual Arts

As a kid I always loved eating at restaurants with paper tablecloths for coloring on. My whole family would start doodling, something that otherwise never happened. The brilliant Think campaign by the School of Visual Arts is based on encouraging the same behavior.

T1MEPEACE Bracelet: Denise Julia Reytan

Watches are my fail safe jewelry choice when it comes to accessorizing an outfit, mainly because they're functional. Denise Julia Reytan's recent project T1MEPEACE reminds you to forgot about time and start enjoying life in the moment. As it says on the website, "When you are happy and spend a good time, it doesn´t matter what time it is!"

Alphabet Drawers: Kent and London

Kent and London is a furniture company after my own heart. Their Alphabet Drawers piece is the most fabulous thing I've seen in a while. "Inspired by vintage printing blocks, this beautifully finished chest of 26 drawers is made from solid oak - the perfect place to file everything from A-Z!" Perfect would have been the word I used to describe it too.
