Cute Overload

This photo is cute, like maybe even cuter than two sea otters holding hands. It's an adorable reminder to stay young and heart and be grateful for your friends!

The Paradigm Shift: Hilary Pecis

What I find truly amazing about the work of Hilary Pecis is the incredible color bursts. Her folk-art inspired pieces make me feel like I'm looking through a kaleidoscope and that my friends makes me happy!

Suzanis: L'aviva

Taking nearly two and a half years to complete, Suzanis (Persian for needle) are a gorgeous palate of color and pattern. They come from Uzbekistan and are available through L'aviva, an online trunk show. I want one (if not all of these) sitting pretty on my couch or hanging happily on my wall.

Stained Glass Windows

For some people the first image to pop into their heads at the mention of color is a rainbow, for me it's stained glass windows. I especially love the two featured above. The first is by German artist Gerhard Richter who created the window to replace the cathedral's original, which was destroyed beyond repair in WWII. The second window is from the Thanksgiving Square Cathedral in Dallas, Texas and was photographed by flickr user shawnoconnell23.

Interior Inspiration Overload

I'm having interior inspiration overload today. Please Sir has a truly awesome post called A Sense of Place that features the interiors of some famous Southern literary figures like Flannery O’Connor and William Faulkner. Feast your eyes my friends!

Also, the above picture from the studios of Mike Perry and Anna Wolf had me daydreaming about creating a similar (and much needed) magazine rack in my home. I'm an organization nut and my first thought after seeing this part of their studio was how much potential I'd have for categorizing, alphabetizing and chronicling. Oh, and those block letters...I just love them!

Newspaper Poems: Austin Kleon

What do you get when you take an old newspaper, a fresh Sharpie marker and the creative mind of Austin Kleon? His fabulously ingenious Newspaper Blackout Poems. They've received national praise and will soon be a HarperCollins book. His approach definitely reminds me of the magnetic fridge poetry, but it's still entirely unique and witty.

Vanitas: Oskar Dawick

In honor of the fact that I desperately need to grocery shop, I present to you the work of Oskar Dawick. His 2005 installation “Vanitas” was comprised of grocery items whose best-before dates expired during the exhibition. Each day another food item would perish until all were expired and so was his installation. Really interesting idea that makes me think about how much I hate having to throw away spoiled food.

Typography of Sarah A. King

The work of Sarah A. King truly left me in awe. The London based illustrator has a series of typography prints that are so incredibly detailed and intricate I couldn't help but feel I needed a magnifying class to truly appreciate all the skill that clearly went into them. Do take the time to cruise her online portfolio if you aren't already familiar with her work, you won't be disappointed.

Tree Drawings: Tim Knowles

Artist Tim Knowles is the mastermind and creative genius behind these prints made by trees. He is responsible for setting up the 'conditions' for the work (preparing the canvas and attaching markers to the branches) but the rest is left to wind and the trees. Very random, a little connect-the-dots meets Jackson Pollock and truly unique work.

Love is Lame

Love is lame, but I love this shirt. If I'd seen it sooner I would have had one shipped to me before the big day tomorrow.

Invisible Treehouse

Swedish firm Tham and Videgard Hansson Arkitekter is the genius behind this incredibly cool and nearly invisible treehouse. Located in northern Sweden, the treehouse serves as a hotel. The mirrored glass walls provide what I can only imagine to be a stunning 360 degree view. How incredibly relaxing a night's stay would be here!

Vintage Tape Cassette Inserts

Jubru aka Bruce Jamieson has an impressive flickr set of Vintage Tape Cassette Inserts. I enjoyed looking through the interesting designs on this nearly now defunct technology.

Handsome Books

I recently stumbled upon Handsome Books. I feel in love and had to restrain myself from draining my bank account. The website archives, sells, and "specializes in books with decorative publishers’ bindings, designed and illustrated by some of the leading artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries." Just take a peek and you'll be sold, literally. I've just found my slice of heaven on earth.

Wave Stool: Viva Terra

I love the simplicity and versatility of the Wave Stool by Viva Terra. It's unique enough to stand alone as a stool, but I like the way it's pictured holding a few books. Maybe it could be my new magazine rack? Either way, it's lovely.

Self Defense with Gavin McInnes

After an increase in the number of armed robberies this past fall in my neighborhood several friends encouraged me to sign up for a self defense class. I'm that girl who responds to a startling situations by dropping immediately to the floor and assuming the fetal position. Needless to say, I never did take the class, but this self defense video by Gavin McInnes counts right? So completely adorable.

The Butterfly Effect: Joseph Warren

Joseph Warren is an artist inspired by the "texture, detail and variety" of vintage maps, through which he finds a resemblance with magnified butterfly wings. His series titled 'The Butterfly Effect' debut in 2007 at the Medcalf Gallery in London's Exmouth Market. Each piece is created by hand from vintage maps and is absolutely stunning.

35 Examples of Beautiful City Photography

If these photos don't give you a serious, and I mean like buy an Osprey and renew your passport serious, case of wanderlust I don't know what will. Smashing Magazine has a wonderful round up of stunning city photography. 35 Examples of Beautiful City Photography is a visual trip around the world.

State Map Postcards

I collect maps from all the places I've been as well as postcards from all the places my friends and family have been. This flickr set by DeeDeeQ5724 of U.S. State Map Postcards is truly a hybrid of my two travel-related collections. It's impressive both in size and variety, not to mention the colorful and often retro designs of the postcards are lovely.

The Swoop Desk

I think I've said it here before, maybe several times, but I need a new desk. The one I have is fabulously old, vintage, rugged and worn but unfortunately it's lacking in work and storage space. While the The Swoop Desk by CB2 wouldn't solve my problems, I certainly love the thing.

Loving this Threadless t-shirt. I opted out of a few early priorities to spend my morning listening to records in bed. We've all had those mornings, right?

Karma Nutrition Bag

Trendy canvas shopping bags are popping up all over the place and it's about time. Amidst the sea of sustainable alternatives, the Karma Nutrition bag by Dogeared really caught my eye. Who couldn't use a little more "saturated kindness" and "trans happiness" in their life?

65 Modern Proverbs: Nikki Farquharson

In an attempt to "capture the zeitgeist of today's western mentality with these revised expressions," London-based graphic designer and illustrator Nikki Farquharson created the book 65 Modern Proverbs. Hilarious, witty and all too true.

I was gushing with adoration, bucket loads in fact, when I saw this picture on The Satorialist. Le sigh, I love everything about this little Parisian's get up.

Scrabble Keyboard

Who doesn't love a good game of Scrabble? A year ago Scrabble inspired items were popping up all over the blogs. I hadn't seen any in some time until this scrabble-tiles keyboard.

Swimmers Glasses

The water at my gym typically tastes like it came straight from the lap pool. Probably not a good sign. So naturally, when I saw these Swimmers Glasses I found humor in them. While they may be slightly less humorous than the Donkey Product glasses I posted about back in December they're nonetheless adorable.

Lazy Bastard

I'm having a major case of the Mondays and apparently so is Punxsutawney Phil, who is giving us 6 more weeks of winter. With that being said, it was love at first sight when I spotted the Lazy Bastard chair this morning on Design Milk. Appropriately named, this beanbag on legs is begging me to come take a nap.
