Sexy People

I'm sort of obsessed with Sexy People. The blog is a self-proclaimed "Celebration of The Perfect Portrait." I have a few photos of my own I could submit, and by "a few" I mean one for every year I had to take a school portrait. Take a look and have a laugh.

Chalkboard Fight

Round 1 - Fight is a truly creative depiction of a fight done through chalkboard illustrations. On a similar side note, does anyone else hate the feel/smell/sound of chalk as much as I do?

Can You Guess the Accent?

I've always been fascinated by accents, but admittedly terrible at identifying them. Can You Guess Where My Accent is From? is a quick little game that stumped me more times than I want to admit. Have a go at it yourself.

The Reusable Range: Natalie Thakur

Fabulously good-looking but ridiculously priced, the The Reusable Range series by Natalie Thakur is a high end version of the disposable shopping bag. I absolutely love them, even if they're expensive.

Plant Chair: Zhuo Wang

What is not to love about the Plant Chair by designer Zhuo Wang? It's so simple and so very creative. Not to mention how eco-positive and practical the concept is. I would love it for my sun room.

House Cafe - Tea For Health

My Mom has always been the tea drinker in my family, I've always preferred coffee. Recently however, I've been trying to kick the cup and switch to tea. These teabags by TBWA are too clever. The packaging was done for a health restaurant's in-house tea and features little active characters on the end of each string.

Robert Gligorov

Check out this intriguing work by Robert Gligorov. According to his biography, his work, "tantalizes the imagination, awakening it from a state of lethargy." I'd say so. Who couldn't use a little imagination awakening now and then?

Rainbow Desk: Allan Lake

There is something very Dr. Seuss meets Salvador Dali about this desk. It's called the Rainbow Desk and it's designed by Allan Lake.

The Pong Table

I know a few guys, my boyfriend included, who would love this prototype by Moritz Waldemeyer. The Pong Table incorporates track pads and LED lights to create a hybrid dining table and game console, inspired by the 1972 Atari classic Pong. This is pretty much every prepubescent boy's dream, no?

Clothing Lamps

Designer Marcella Foschi of the Private Circle Shop has a ton of products made from re-used and sustainable materials. These lamps are a perfect example of her work. The plexiglass light frames are designed to support any number of clothing items of the owners choosing. If I were opening a clothing boutique I'd be on these like white on rice.

Album Cover Wall Organizer

I'm an organizational freak and I get it from my mother. I'm pretty sure I was the only person in my dorm willingly and happily making my bed (top-bunk mind you) everyday. It's no surprise then that I love this project by Paper and Stitch. Visit the site for instructions and more pictures. Can't wait to make my own.

Flutter: Ian Dingman

This piece by Ian Dingman is more than appropriate for today's posting. Not only is it book related, but as Hurricane Ike makes his way north we're in for 4 days of solid rain. I'd rather it rained books, preferably my favorites in hardcover, thanks. Ian's work is part of the Enormous Tiny Art Show, oh how I wish I could go.

A Collection of First and Last Pages

I know I'm not the only one who flips to the last page of a book at some point before actually reaching it. What can I say, I'm not really the most patient person and I don't do well with suspense. Johnathan Stuart's book A Collection of First and Last Pages proves that I am not alone in my practices. "This project sprung from the faze I went through of reading only the first and last pages of books in book shops. I thought it would be a good idea to have them all in one place. So I set about collecting my favourites and compiled them." I would love to get my hands on this.

Personal Library Kit

I generally purchase every book I read. I fantasize about having a huge personal library someday and it seems like a surefire way to start accomplishing that. I hate to admit it, but I'm also fairly greedy with my books. "For a bibliophile, there’s no greater pleasure than sharing beloved books, but no crueler pain than losing them for good" That's why this Personal Library Kit is genius.

World's Largest Record Collection

After receiving a record player last year for Christmas, I've spent the past eight months hopping from one record store to another in pursuit of building my collection of vinyl. Paul Mawhinney is a man I should be taking notes from. He holds the title of world's largest vinyl record collection. This short documentary features his story.

Cassette Tape Tote Bag

The Cassette Tape Tote Bag by ThinkGeek is fabulously retro. According to its product description, the bag is "big enough to hold a pretty big portion of your CD collection, which would make you ironic like Alanis." Love it!

Float Bed: Max Longin

The Float Bed by Max Longin is pretty much the coolest piece of furniture I've seen in a long time. It's surprisingly easy to assemble and not surprising quite expensive. I'm not sure I'd use it as a bed, but how fun would it be as a communal seat in a gazebo of cabana?
