The Life Aquatic with Bruce Mozert

I remember getting my first waterproof camera for a childhood water park birthday party. That was the mid-90s and the pictures were dismal at best. Back in the 1930s, Bruce Mozert also had an underwater camera, arguably the only person in the world to claim such ownership. With it, he is attributed as having saved the image of Silver Springs, Florida. "Mozert pioneered underwater photography, building waterproof housings that allowed him to go deep with a camera in hand." Back in May, Smithsonian Magazine ran an article featuring Mr. Mozert and his wonderful photography. View more of his work at the Smithsonian Magazine website.

This is a fantastic shot. You know, I don't think I've ever used an underwater camera! Must remedy that.

*gasps*

being a Florida girl, water proof cameras are a must. Can't tell you how many pictures I have of our pale faces scunched and bubbling out air.

I've used a waterproof camera once, loove those pictures of sea turtles, sea lions, penguins...and our crazy bulging underwater faces!
